Here’s your chance to meet UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame member JJ Stokes. Stokes still holds UCLA school records for receiving touchdowns in a season (17 in 1993), receiving touchdowns in a career (28), receiving yards in a game (263 vs. USC in 1992) and receptions in a game (14 vs. Wisconsin, 1994 Rose Bowl), among others. Stokes played in the NFL from 1995 to 2003 with the San Francisco 49ers, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots.

Rafer Johnson Awarded Outstanding Bruin at the 2011 UCLA Golf Classic!

The Executive Committee is proud to announce that Olympic Gold Medalist Rafer Johnson will be honored with the 2011 Outstanding Bruin Award at the UCLA Golf Classic next week. The Outstanding Bruin Award is a prestigious award presented annually to a UCLA graduate, who exemplifies an outstanding commitment to community and greater causes.

“UCLA with its education and research excellence is globally preeminent. As a graduate, I have benefitted as a student athlete and an alumnus. It is my hope that I can give back to my university and am inspired to join fellow Bruins in Orange County, nationally and internationally at events that benefit UCLA. Super Bowl XLV

Anyone Watch the Big Game Yesterday?

As a fellow UCLA Alum, I felt honored and privileged to see Troy Aikman commentating the most watched TV event of all time, the XLV Super Bowl. To know that Troy is giving of his time and effort to play in this year’s Golf Classic is an even greater “kudos” to our school.

He even made a joke about his golf skills. At least I felt better knowing he has trouble with his swing from time to time, too. I guess his skills on the golf course are not as honed as his skills on the field. That’s good news for the rest of us who are intimidated to play next to him.

On Tuesday, March 1, join the UCLA Golf Classic Tee-Off Party! Meet fellow Bruins and learn how you can make a difference volunteering at this spring's UCLA Golf Classic at the prestigious Coto de Caza Country Club.

Meet Bruin sports legends while helping with this exciting event! The volunteer reception will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Newport Rib Company. There will be light refreshments and a no-host bar.

Super Bowl MVP Troy Aikman Participating in the 2011 Golf Classic!

The UCLA Golf Classic is excited to announce that famed quarterback Troy Aikman will be among the VIPs at this year’s event. This UCLA alumnus and three-time Super Bowl champion is now a popular sportscaster on the Fox network.

Aikman joins many other VIPs in attendance on Monday, May 2, at the prestigious Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club. Friends and family of UCLA will also be supporting a great University, while enjoying golf, and participating in live and silent auctions and an entertaining dinner.
