We're honored to welcome back former Outstanding Bruin Award recipient, athlete, alumnus and UCLA parent Rafer Johnson '59 to this year's UCLA Golf Classic at the prestigious Monarch Beach Golf Links and St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort. Johnson, a student-scholar and president of the student body, began his athletic career at UCLA as a two-sport performer in track and field and basketball. A member of the National Track and Field, the U.S. Olympic and UCLA Athletic Halls of Fame, Johnson is best known for winning the gold medal in the decathlon during the 1960 Olympics in Rome, edging out UCLA classmate C.K. Yang of Taiwan.
